When 15-year-old Caleb Acosta was diagnosed with stage four brain and spine cancer in July last year the Florida teen was told he had six months to live.

He had two wishes: Firstly, to beat the disease and secondly, to surf with Ricochet, a therapy dog he'd seen on TV helping other sick and special needs kids.

Last week the Make-a-Wish Foundation granted Caleb his second wish and flew him to San Diego, where Ricochet helped him ride the waves.

"I just felt almost normal, finally," Caleb said after his surf. "It felt really good to be free ... not worrying about anything."

While pets might not cure diseases they certainly make you feel loved, as these affectionate cats, dogs, koalas and lions show.
